Delivering your orders …
Deliver your orders as soon as possible.
- Best time is late afternoon / early evening
- deliver to the elderly customers first, especially when the dark nights set
- try to avoid delivering on Halloween – trick or treat!
Make sure you have plenty of change – a float of notes and coins.
Always smile, be polite and friendly, and thank your customer by name (if known) for their order.
Always have a catalogue pack with you – you do sometimes get more orders.
Be prepared to help customers assemble products or help explain how they work (ensuring you read any instructions to avoid any breakages).
If your customer is not in, leave a note stating that you called with their order and you will try again or that they can ring you to arrange a more convenient time.
- If you have a mobile phone take it with you – if you get no answer at the door you can always phone incase they just can’t hear you, but also incase someone arrives home before you are finished.
NEVER leave the goods without getting payment, as you are responsible for paying the company for the goods.
- Do not give the goods to the customer until they are paid for – simply hand them the receipt.
Payments:
- in the beginning, when you do not know the customer, you may only want to accept cash.
- if you want to accept cheques and bank transfers, then it is advisable to get this in advance of delivering the goods to ensure the payment has cleared before leaving the goods. Once you get to know your customers and feel you can trust them, you may choose to accept cheques and bank transfers at the time you deliver the goods, trusting the payment will clear a few days later.
- in the future you may want to accept card payments, then there are a number of small card devices on the market.
– ensure you do your homework before buying any device, so that you understand any associated fees and payout timescales.
– the one I use and reccomend is >> SUMUP <<
Mention the 30 day money back satisfaction guarantee, mentioning they must open the packaging carefully and keep it safe in case of any problem and need for return.
When You Get Back Home …
On returning home from doing your deliveries balance your money
- count out your float taken with you for change
- the money remaining should then total all the payments made by your customers.
- and don’t forget to pay for your own items!
Identify all the customer receipts for the deliveries which have been made, total the amount of payments which should have been received and total this against the money you have collected.
Using the Invoice emailed to you, check the Total Catalogue/Retail Price for the whole order equals the Total Amount of all your customer receipts.
Staple your copy of the customer receipts for each invoice together.
If any items need to be returned, for whatever reason, ensure you key a claim for this to be credited and follow the relvant process to return the item to the company.
- you will only be refunded the cost price of the item, as you do not get to keep the retail profit for this item as it has now not been sold.
If you need help just give your sponsor a call.
